Used car salesmen tricks

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We were buying a 2015 Fifth wheel travel trailer... my girlfriend went to finalize the paperwork... the salesman wanted us to pay an additional $399 to “service” the unit we were buying from them. By the time it was over they tried to charge us almost $1900 above and beyond the $18,000 asking price. They saw a female and decided to hit her over the head, thank goodness she called me and I told her to leave!! We’ll definitely do business elsewhere.

Never buy a Crossroads

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
2012 Crossraods nose cap began fading just under the two year warranty. Crossroads said they were AWARE of this happening on many models. They told us we would have to pay for it and they would reimburse us. Took them almost a month but they did. $2500.00 Gel coat began cracking on the sides and we contacted Crossroads again and they stated , warranty expired, it would be at our expense. One issue .... they no longer make the graphic!!! Next, slide out kept throwing a code. Repair guy told us it was a poor design. The wiring harness gets pinched when the slide out is retracted in. Back wall is being replaced after sustaining storm damage. The insurance company tried to fight us on paying because they said it was poor craftsmanship. The repair guy said the back was was totally cardboard. He stated he has seen it used on the nose cap due to the curvature, but never the walls. $5000 later and again...NO GRAPHICS AVAILABLE. I'm starting to see a pattern here... Cheap craftsmanship and poor Customer Service. I am going to let everyone I know about the problems with Crossroads. We camp a lot and meet a lot of people.

Have a 2014 Z1 that is kept clean all the time and aired out with doors and windows open most days but smells awful. No water leaks or issues like that but when you use it for a week end all clothing whether worn or not has to be laundered to get the smell out.

Guest

Yeah, have you looked at the floor in your slide out? Check the floor at the edge of the wall.

I expect you will find rot in that edge of the slide out floor. This may be a design flaw.

Guest

We have the same problem, 2014 33BH and it doesn't matter what we do to try to get rid of the smell it still there. It soaks into our food to where we can taste it. Something is majorly wrong with the unit and we are getting ready to file a suit against Crossroads.

I cannot stand the smell any longer in ours either. We throw everything away after using it.

It seems like a problem with every one of us that own one.

Is anyone interested in a Class Action lawsuit? I'm all for it.

I have a 2014 Sunset Trail that has had an odor that I have not been able to get rid of since purchasing it in 2015. I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of the odor. Took it to camping world o trade and found out the odor was from the deterioration of the wood in the front and it is infested with black mold

My husband and I discovered that our 5 year old Crossroads Sunset Trailer has dry rot on the left side of the bedroom (and probably further on into the kitchen/living area. When we purchased it, it smelled, but of course the salesman said that was due to storage and it would air out - NOT!

The finance manager said we could not buy a warranty on a used camper. We were not knowledgeable enough to figure out whether that was true or not. My husband is going to do the repairs himself and buy treated wood for the floor. He could not believe the cheap materials underneath the flooring.

We only trust ourselves. The camper is worth keeping for the good quality wood cabinets. Just hope nothing else transpires. He worked for a former boss who would not give him time off to spend much time RVíng.

One of the reasons we didn't discover these problems until now. Will let you know how everything goes. Had hoped this would be our retirement home.

If we slowly rebuild it, maybe that will be possible. Cannot camp again till the renovations are done, because suspecting mold and dry rot and don't want health problems on top of everything else.

We had a no issues on our unit...but we did regular maintenance. If you had read your manual most things are covered. Although our dealer did an orientation and walk through and unit was in great shape . We were able to make sure everything was how we wanted it and they showed us what to do. We are first time owners and haven't really had any issues. so not sure if it is a dealer issue (others didnt pdi? or didnt pre check the unit) or why we havent had any issues with ours. we had a great dealer and experience . we have had good luck! this is a good unit in our opinion ...

2014 zinger smells

We have a 2014 Zinger 5th wheel. It smells like a musty basement.

When we bring things home from the trailer it smells up our house and cupboards. I'm at my wits end. I have used air fresheners, charcoal packs, damp rid.... I would love to get rid of it but we owe more than it's worth!!

I'm glad we're not the only one dealing with this issue.

But it's so frustrating!!! If anyone has found anything that works, please let us know!!

Same. We have a 2015 Crossroads Rezerve.

The smell is awful. Permeates everything. We cannot even put food in our trailer or it will taste bad within a couple of hours. Everything in our trailer is ruined because once it goes in, the smell cannot me washed out.

It’s not new trailer smell, it stinks and is getting worse every year. We are starting to think it’s bad for our health too.

I read that the smell is due to black mold growing because of leaking in the front. i would have this checked out. Don't know if it can be fixed.

Same problem with my 2014 Zinger. Has smelled bad like a musty basement since it was brand new.

Crossroads should come good for it, but they won’t. Will never buy another RV from these crooks ever again!!

Great camper

We bought a 2017 volante 26 RB travel trailer 4/15/2017. We love it. The only problem we had is the DVD player never worked but was replaced by warranty. We camp every other weekend and just finished a 1500 mile trip in it. Not one problem..Workmanship seems great in this one

Crossroads RV - FADED TOP , NOT DIRTY !!
Updated by user Sep 20, 2017

Please read my original complaint. The travel camper was used.

So I guess it won't get any consideration. So all your links do not apply.

Just unhappy with a newer camper that had faded. And found many others who had the same experience and got no support from...

Original review Sep 19, 2017
My wife and I are in the market for a 20-24ft. Lite travel camper.

We found a Crossroads sunset trail 220rb. This met all our needs the camper is a 2014 with a few minor problems the dealer will fix. I said I was looking forward to seeing it all cleaned up it looked as if there was a half inch of dust on the front cap, the dealer rep. Then told me it was clean.

The top was faded badly. So we Stopped the purchase. I since have found that crossroads has repainted some after a long bout with owners. I would be willing to purchase the camper knowing it would be fixed.

The camper is still available so I don't know where to go next. It's to bad we loved many of the features the outside kitchen was a Great set up.

Terrible!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We have a 2012 Crossroads Sunset Trail. Love the layout of the camper; however, we had to put a new roof on 2015 $5000 including repairs made to inside because of water damage- dealer said is was poor workmanship from factory. Of course out of warranty by then. Now the front cap is fading and peeling off. The side panels on the camper are dull and you can almost see cracking where the gel coat or paint is cracking. Called factory about the front cap and side panels, no luck! This camper is only 5 years old and has been taken very good care of but it looks 10 years old! DO NOT BUY CROSSROADS product. Our last camper was a Starcraft and it was a tank. Owned for 10 years and never in the shop one time. Repeat- DO NOT BUY CROSSROADS PRODUCT -

2013 crossroads elevation

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Crossroads RV - 2013 crossroads elevation

Nothing but issues with this unit. 2 Lippert slide out motors on main slide burned up in years 2 and 3 of owning toy hauler.

Fuel pump motor for on board fuel tank/ pump went bad at year 2 (we run the pump every 30 days as we were told to do when we picked up the unit). Labor day 2017 while driving down the interstate stopped to get fuel at a gas station and noticed the front AC unit had something white lying on top of it. Climbed on the roof and noticed that the roof membrane was ripped/ tore from the front cap to the front AC unit. $11,848.00 to repair the roof.

9/2017 Contacted Cross Roads and spoke to the most RUDE customer service rep I have ever spoken to. She would try to talk over me as well as told me that the unit had a 1 year manufacturers roof warranty. I told her that there was no glue on the roof at the front cap and that it was a manufactures defect. She said of that was the case then the roof would have pulled up or tore wen it was being transported from the manufactures location to the dealership.

I was also told by her that it was due to the caulking or seam deteriorating and that they WOULD NOT FIX IT. I told her that she should look at the internet with several other people having issues with the roof on their products and that it was a defect from the company. My suggestion from ANYONE looking to purchase a trailer from this company is to STAY AWAY. The product that they put out is JUNK.

They will not stand behind what they sell and are very rude as well as do not care about the customer.

Everytime we take this toy hauler out for a trip we have issue from big to small. It is a sinking ship that you have to keeps adding thousands of dollars to keep it afloat.

Will never ever buy a Crossroads product ever again !!!!!!!!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We didn't wanna have anyone elses problems with a used 5th wheel. So we decided to buy Brand New.

So we bought a 2015 Crossroads Rezerve 31BH for $30,000. Should have known the first day we took it camping that it was a lemon when the A/C didn't come on in the Texas summer heat. Thank God my husband has worked HVAC his entire life. All the wires were wired wrong.

For that first year, minor things kept breaking and we would fix it. After that first year, I contacted crossroads corporate office that we have a bubble in our roof. How can that be when its only a year old. I spoke with Dicor (who makes the roof, and they said its an installation problem if its bubbled that soon).

I repeated that information to crossroads and they told me it will not be covered under warranty and I should go have it looked at. I emailed them pictures and they never contacted me again. We took our last trip this summer to Wisconsin from Texas, on the way home people were honking at us and trying to catch us at stops to tell us our roof is 4 feet high. Are you kidding me??

This is our 5th trip in this camper. Our roof is being repaired now , let me show you the quality of crossroads products. Big gaps in the roof.......that had duct tape over them. Boards over lapped Our cap was being held on with only 2 screws, one on the very far left corner and one on the very far right corner.

The rest of the screw holes remained empty. The rubber roof of the 5th wheel was lap sealed over the hard nose instead of under the nose. No wonder why we had air blowing. DO NOT BUY CROSSROADS.

I WON'T EVEN LOOK AT A CROSSROADS PRODUCT BECAUSE WE ARE SO DISCUSTED. Oh yes, also forgot to mention the big crater hole that was hidden underneath the trim just above the master bedroom window.

Crossroads RV - All good here

I guess I'm unique. We own a 2014 Crossroads Cruiser 35SS (not a 335SS), of which there were 75 made.

I have #74. We have had very few issues with ours, and other than the fridge having trouble keeping up in the Texas heat (a Dometic problem, not Crossroads), the trailer performs well. I changed out the brakes to electric over hydraulic because I felt the brakes were weak, and I put on a TrailAir king pin to improve the chucking that all fivers have.

The slides work, the lights work, the floor is solid, and it doesn't leak (It seems to rain every camping trip). Sorry to read so many problematic stories, but we are happy with ours.

Responding to a Crossroads problem

Wow. That was a long story.

Thx for posting as I just bought a 2014 Crossroads camper. I walked through 10 different brands of travel campers. They all have *** materials holding them together. Any time you see light or feather light the inside components are further down the Crap line to drop weight.

I don't think I could have had your patience as I would have Dropped that load of Crap at the first dealership I could find. Sometimes just have to be Rude in order to get a response. It seems to be that way with everything these days. Drop that reconditioned vacuum back at Big Lots and demand a refund.

People respond better when your in their face. If this taught you anything, For future endeavors don't be the good guy slam your fist and get results even if not in your nature. Your wife will love you for it !! Thx Scott.

Ps.

Front cap is very faded on my camper and have started harassing Crossroads to pay for a repaint as many others have had this problem. Only the overly persistent had any results from Crossroads.

WARNING - Do not purchase an RV Trailer from Crossroads RV Mfg!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They do not stand behind their product which is built poorly!! We purchased a new 2015 Crossroads Cruiser 322RL 5th wheel.

Every time we took it out, something else would go wrong. Valances falling off the walls. Turns out were only held on by a screw instead of several. Slides not operating properly, radio not hooked up correctly, shocks freezing and damaging basement doors, latches oxidizing, trim on outside coming off, an axle needing to be replaced and Crossroads would not help, while still in warranty.

Out of warranty, leaf springs break off and axle detaches from the trailer. They use 5200 lb axles for a luxury trailer and should actually be 7000 lbs. Customer Service is a joke to deal with and does not help what so ever. They don't even get back to you.

We went through 3 RV dealers to get warranty work done. Even RV dealers don't want to deal with them! Finally got rid of it and will never ever buy another Crossroads product again. We actually tell anyone who will listen and warn them not to buy!!!

Keystone is the way to go!! Had Keystones in the past and went back to them.

Actually to clarify below... Crossroads and Keystone are equal.

My experience is that Crossroads is actually better product then Keystone. but potatoe pot- at -toe.... where the difference will come in is the dealership you buy from and whether they do a pre delivery inspection.

Buy next time from a dealer that can prove service to you. Or you will be disappointed in every brand.

Guest

We have had problems with our crossroads 5th wheel for one year now. Have not gone on one trip with out having one thing or another not work.

We also had camping world do repairs that took over 2 1/2 months before they returned our camper.

Very poor Quality

Guest

I don't know if you are aware of this or not. You say to buy Keystone.

Keystone and Crossroads are owned and built by Thor. They are products of the same manufacture. I think a lot of time campers can be like cars, sometimes you get a good one and sometimes you get a bad one. I currently own a Crossroads Zinger and I am trading it in on a Keystone.

I hope all goes well. God Bless.

Yes they are both owned by Thor Industries but use different products and are different facilities.

My husband just put in black out shades in the bedroom of our Keystone and made a comment on how well built this trailer was compared to the Crossroads.

Keystone uses better products. Our doors inside are not hollow doors, the counter tops are carrion not plastic. It is amazing the difference between the two trailers and the Keystone cost us less money for a better product! We've had Keystones (Outback) in the past and should have stayed with Keystone.

Would have saved us so much money, stress and heartache.

Good luck with your new Keystone!!! Happy camping!!

You do realize Keystone owns Crossroads.

Thor owns Crossroads not Keystone. We've had Keystones in the past w/ no issues what so ever.

All our friends have Keystones & have not had any issues. We wanted a Grand Design Solitude but couldn't touch the price.
